Frequent Questions, Answered

Sizing, fabric, delivery and returns. If what you need is not here, write to us — a person answers.

Sizing & fit

How do I choose my size?

Our abayas are cut long and straight, so the fit question is really a length question. Measure from your shoulder to the floor in the shoes you will wear, and match that to the length on the product page — every listing gives the exact garment length rather than a size letter alone.

If you fall between two lengths, take the longer one. A hem that sits slightly low reads as intentional; one that sits above the ankle does not.

What if I am between sizes?

Size up. Our pieces are meant to skim rather than fit close, and the sleeve and shoulder are cut with room. Sizing down to get a closer fit changes how the fabric falls and is the most common reason for an exchange.

I am taller than average. Do you have longer lengths?

Tell us your height before you order and we will tell you honestly whether we have something that works. We would rather lose a sale than send you a piece that is two inches short.

How do inners fit compared to abayas?

Inners are cut closer to the body, since they are a base layer. Take your usual size rather than sizing up, and check the length separately — inner lengths are shorter than abaya lengths by design so they do not show at the hem.

Fabric & care

What are your abayas made from?

Nida crepe, chosen for how it behaves rather than how it looks on a roll. We test every batch for opacity against strong light, for how matte it stays in heat, and for how it falls after a full wash cycle. Fabric that goes shiny, shows light or loses its drape does not make it into a design.

How should I wash it?

Cold machine wash on a gentle cycle, inside out, with similar colours. No bleach, no fabric softener — softener coats the fibres and is what dulls a matte finish over time.

Hang to dry in shade rather than direct sun, and it will need little or no ironing. If it does, use a cool iron on the reverse.

Will it crease in the box?

It should not. Pieces are folded along the seam rather than across the front, specifically so there is no crease down the middle when it arrives. Any fold marks from transit hang out within a few hours.

How do I care for scarves and hijabs?

Hand wash cold, or machine wash inside a mesh bag on the most gentle cycle. Lay flat to dry. Do not wring — twisting is what puts permanent creases into lightweight fabric.

Ordering & delivery

Where do you ship from?

From our own warehouse rather than a third-party hub, which means orders are picked, packed and handed to the courier by people who have seen the product.

How long will my order take?

Orders are dispatched the same or next working day. Delivery time after that depends on your address and the service you choose at checkout — the estimate shown there is the one to go by.

Will I get tracking?

Yes, sent the moment the parcel is handed to the courier rather than when it is first scanned a day or two later. If the tracking has not moved after two working days, write to us and we will chase it rather than asking you to.

Can I change or cancel my order?

If it has not been packed yet, yes — write to us as soon as you can and we will catch it. Once it is with the courier we cannot recall it, but you can still return it.

Returns & exchanges

What is your returns policy?

If something is not right, write to us and we will sort it out. One message starts the exchange — no forms and no back and forth.

Pieces need to be unworn, unwashed and in their original packaging, with tags attached.

Can I exchange for a different size?

Yes. Tell us what you have and what you need, and we will reserve the replacement while your return is on its way, so you are not waiting on stock.

What if my order arrives damaged or incorrect?

Send us a photograph and we will replace it. You will not be asked to pay return postage on something that was our mistake.

About LAMEEM

Who is behind LAMEEM?

A house founded and run by women in Saudi Arabia. Design, pattern-cutting, fitting and final quality sign-off all happen there, by people who wear an abaya every day and argue about sleeve width accordingly.

You can read the longer version on our story page.

What does “quality checked” actually mean?

Every finished piece is inspected individually rather than sampled by the batch — seam strength, hem finish, button and press-stud alignment, colour consistency across panels, and the final press. Anything that fails is pulled rather than quietly shipped.

How do I reach a person?

Write to us and a person answers — not a bot, and not a template. If your question is about sizing, include your height and we will give you a straight answer.

Still not sure? Ask us.

Tell us your height and what you are looking for, and we will tell you honestly whether we have it.
